Our Aim

We want to help create a community environment across our Schools and Services in which our staff are inspired to learn and develop together every day, helping good practice to be shared, and poor practice to be challenged.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) as a Chartered Manager

As a Chartered Manager, you will need to evidence effective annual CPD. The CMI Code of Practice for professional managers states that adherence to the code, which includes an ongoing commitment to self-development, is a fundamental requirement of CMI membership.

Planning Your CPD

Where can I find out more about CPD?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a commitment to your professional development, necessary to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world. CPD encompasses learning through a range of resources and activities. For more information, please visit the CMI webpage on CPD.

How should you record your CPD?

As a Chartered Manager you are required to keep a record of your CPD. We recommend you take advantage of CMI’s online CPD system. This system makes it easier for you to record your learning objectives and activities and enables you to generate a personalised report of your development. If you would like to know more about how to use CMI’s CPD system, please contact the Chartered Manager Team via email: membership@managers.org.uk or tel: 01536 207307.

Non-accredited CPD opportunities

As a Chartered Manager you can take advantage of a range of CPD opportunities made available by the CMI. These include events and webinars where you can learn from leaders at the cutting edge of their profession, or by using ManagementDirect (your online management learning portal) if you need fast, well-informed answers to your daily leadership challenges.

Accredited CPD opportunities

As a Chartered Manager you can complete additional CMI units and gain credits for another qualfication, or simply learn more about management and leadership. To help you, a collection of key resources has been put together for each unit (or topic). To access these resources, please log onto Management Direct. If you would like to complete additional CMI units, please get in touch via CMI@hud.ac.uk so we can discuss your options.

How can you get more management and leadership qualifications?

Participants on our in-house Strategic Leadership Programme gain a CMI Level 7 certificate. This can be topped up to a Level 7 diploma by completing more CMI units, or even an MSc Strategic Leadership, through our Business School. If this is something you’d like to explore further, please get in touch.
