Who should attend?

Academic staff and/or Support staff with a Learning Technology role.

Participants must have built their basic module content and be familiar with the basic functionality of Brightspace.

What is the session about?

The aim of this session is to help familiarise users with the release conditions available to them on Brightspace. Demonstration will provide users with an understanding of how release conditions can be used within their teaching and learning by controlling how and when content is released to students.

This session will also help participants understand how they can provide specific groups of students with tailored content dependent on previously viewed content, and distribute awards based on level of achievement. The session will also cover intelligent agents and how they can be used for semi-automated communication with students. The session will demonstrate how intelligent agents can be used for positive reinforcement and likewise for quickly identifying and communicating with non-engagers within a class list.

Following the session, participants will be able to:

  • state the benefits of using release conditions within Brightspace
  • be able to use release conditions to control the release of content based upon specified criteria
  • create awards within Brightspace
  • distribute awards based on achievement
  • set up automated emails using the intelligent agent tool.
