Outlook Anywhere

 

‌Introduction

If you have your own PC or windows laptop, and have Microsoft Outlook installed, then Outlook Anywhere allows you to access your University staff mail.  Once configured correctly on your PC, you can access your email whenever you have internet access.

Steps to Setup Outlook Anywhere on a Windows 7 PC Outlook 2010:

We have tried to show a true representation of the steps involved in setting up Outlook Anywhere.  Due to your current PC configuration, some screens and steps involved in the configuration may be different to the screen shots shown in this document.  Should you require further assistance please contact IT Support on 01484 47373 or email it.support@hud.ac.uk.

  1. Select Start, Settings, Control Panel, and select the Mail (32-bit) icon.

  1. At the mail screen click ‘Add’ to create a new account.

  1. Enter a name for the profile and click OK. You may want to use your email address in this field. This item is a descriptive name only

  1. Click the button that says ‘Manually configure server settings or additional server types’ then Next.

  1. At the ‘Choose E-mail Service’ screen select the option for ‘Microsoft Exchange’ and click Next.

  1. At the ‘Server settings’ screen:

a. Enter the server name – outlook.ad.hud.ac.uk
b. Un-tick the box ‘Use Cached Exchange Mode’
c. Enter your username e.g. a.n.other@hud.ac.uk
d. Select the ‘More settings…’ button.

  1. In the general tab – give the account a name. Leave the ‘automatically detect connection state’ selected and leave the ‘server connection timeout’ set to 30 seconds

  1. Click the connection tab. Tick the ‘Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP’ setting and then click on the ‘Exchange Proxy Settings…’ button.

  1. At the Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings screen use the details below.

a.       staffmailoa.hud.ac.uk for the proxy server for Exchange
b.      msstd:staffmailoa.hud.ac.uk for the principal name in certificate setting
c.       Set the authentication to ‘Basic authentication’
d.      Click ok when the proxy settings have been entered.

  1. When you are returned to the Connection Tab, click ‘ok’.

  1. When you are returned back to the ‘server Settings’ page, click on the ‘Check Name’ button.

  1. At the Windows Security settings screen enter your university login id in the format ad\userid and your password. Click OK when done.

  1. Click Finish the Outlook Anywhere configuration setup.

  1. Click OK on the profile window.

 

  1. Start Outlook to access your mail over the internet.

  1. 12. At the Windows Security settings screen enter your university login id in the format ad\userid and your password. Click OK when done.

  1. Once your credentials have been successfully authenticated against the University servers, the server and user name settings will show underlined. Click ‘Next’ to continue.

 

  1. Click Finish to complete the Outlook Anywhere configuration setup.

  1. Start Outlook to access your mail over the internet.

  1. Load Outlook to begin using your Email account.

 

  1. Enter Ad\username and password when prompted
