Versus Arthritis, in collaboration with Cancer Research UK, invites applications for its immunology innovation award. This aims to catalyse multidisciplinary collaborations across disease areas. Applicants must attend a workshop, taking place from 2 to 5 April 2019, to network and form new collaborations spanning diverse research areas and organisations, work in multidisciplinary teams to generate new and innovative research ideas, and pitch projects for seed funding.
Applications are welcome from a wide range of disciplines, including those working in the fields of cancer and arthritis research, immunologists, physical scientists, healthcare professionals, engineers, and those working in the digital and technology space.
Applicants must be based in UK and be able to attend all three days of the workshop. Applicants must be willing to engage with those working in other disciplines from a variety of backgrounds, and other key stakeholders. Applications from those working in the physical sciences and from people representing large or small organisations that will contribute new expertise and new thinking in immunology research are particularly welcome to apply. PhD students and junior post-docs are not eligible.
Teams who successfully pitch proposals at the workshop will receive seed funding worth up to £45,000 for one year to cover the costs of pilot studies. Funding will not cover salaries. Accommodation, refreshments and meals, as well as standard class travel costs for the workshop will be covered.
