Researcher Environment

Welcome to the Researcher Environment section of Research and Enterprise, where members of academic staff can find further information regarding support with research degree supervision.

To help research supervisors to signpost their PGRs to further help and support, please use the left menu to explore further sections regarding English Language training for PGRs, and support and representation for PGRs.  There is also further information regarding resources for supervisors and supervision training for academic staff.

The Researcher Environment Team are a small team of staff dedicated to providing the best environment possible to all academic staff and postgraduate researchers (PGRs). To contact the team please email pgrskills@hud.ac.uk.  We are always open to new ideas and suggestions for improvment.  

Our remit includes:

• Co-delivery of Supervision Fundamentals and refresher sessions for academic supervisors.
• Delivery of Researcher Environment Drop-In sessions for both academic staff and PGRs to ask questions outside of their teams.
• Organisation of training sessions for PGRs and administration SkillsForge.
• Delivery of academic English courses, workshops, tutorials and individual/small group classes to international PGRs.
• Development and maintenance of the Researcher Environment module in Brightspace.
• Development and maintenance of the Graduate School website.
• Participation in inductions for new PGRs.
• Organisation of events such as Three Minute Thesis and Falling Walls.
