The results of our recent Employee Engagement survey are now live.
Thank you for taking the time to respond and provide your feedback on how you feel about working at the University of Huddersfield. The survey was completed by 1600 employees across all Schools and Services, 74% of the organisation, This high participation rate was an increase from the last Quality of Working Life Survey which achieved an overall participation rate of 63%
The results have provided us with detailed information regarding your opinions on, how we work, your relationships with your colleagues and managers, our culture and how engaged and satisfied you are.
The results show that the majority of our colleagues feel happy and proud to work for the University of Huddersfield, as we achieved an overall Engagement score of 66%. Based on Culture Amp’s benchmarking data, this demonstrates a good result (scores between 60-75% are considered to be good to excellent, and anything above 75% is outstanding). A strong set of results were also achieved under both the ‘Management’ and ‘Alignment and Involvement’ factors, as both attained scores over 70%.
To help ensure we were able to compare against our previous set of Quality of Working Life results, 22 of the previously asked questions were included in this year’s survey. The results show that we have improved our score on each of these questions, and specifically our job satisfaction score increased from 62% to 68%. Considering the challenges, faced by the University over the course of the last couple of years, this is certainly a result to feel proud of.
The survey has also highlighted several areas that we need to focus on to continue to make the University of Huddersfield a greater place to work. One of the major themes that has been identified is the need to improve how we communicate and collaborate across our teams. We will explore this and other key points in more detail during our School/Service action planning sessions in the New Year.
Thank you once again for participating in the employee engagement survey. Your comments are invaluable and will be used as the basis for many meaningful, ongoing discussions over the coming months.
An email from Culture Amp has been circulated to all staff members, which includes a link to access the overall University of Huddersfield report.
