Step three
Encourage potential students to apply to Huddersfield, and to accept our offer of a place if we make one
All the work undertaken during steps one and two are designed to encourage students to apply to Huddersfield, but at this point we remain one of five places they could choose. Our aim is to ensure we are their first choice institution. This is where tools such as the website, iHud and our open days really play their part.
And it is here that the work of our academics and colleagues in Schools and Services becomes more important than ever, as they are the face of the University. It is all very well issuing publicity material that stresses how friendly, professional and excellent Huddersfield is – but that only has any weight if every person the potential student comes into contact with, whether by phone, email or reputation (eg in information they receive from current students who may be their friends, or via social media channels) lives up to those promises. The marketing only works if every encounter matches up to what we are saying.
The main tools we use at this stage are:
- iHud
- Website
- Post application open days and interviews
- Social media channels
