Editing and approving a section
To edit a content item, hover over the yellow arrow and select "modify". This will open the content in WYSIWYG view - this is the content editor. Anyone with basic word-processing skills can edit webpages using this editor as the toolbar is very similar. If this is not the part of the webpage that you are wanting to edit, click "Cancel" and open another content item until you find the content that you would like to edit. Once you have made your amends, click "Update". You will then be returned to the Content tab.
In order to add images and other media to a webpage, you must first add it to the media library.
Approving content
The content item that you have edited will have a status of "Pending". If you do nothing at this stage, your amendments will not go live. To make your amends live (once status has been set to pending), you need to approve the content. To do this, click on "Content" (at the very top in the black navigation bar) and then "Approve Content". Find the content that you want to make live and click on it. Then click "Approve". Depending on your level of access, you may also need to click "Approve" a second time. To double check that you have approved the content, return to Site Structure and navigate to the section that you have just edited. Click on the section and then the Content tab. Double check that the status of the content item that you have edited now states "Approved". This indicates that your content it in the "render queue".
Publishing content
Please note that this does not mean that your change will be reflected on the site instantly. We have something known as an "hourly render cycle". This means that any amends to the website are published together, every hour. Publishing starts on the hour, every hour and it can take up to an hour after that for changes to come through on the live website. It is best to make your amends before quarter to the hour in order to guarantee that they will make the next render cycle. Any later and you risk missing the render cycle (in which case your amend may take up to 2 hours to come through).
If you require content to be published immediately, please contact the Web Editor, Matt Jones.
