How to use the media library

The media library is the central area where all our media is stored. By media, we mean:

  • Images
  • Videos
  • Audio clips
  • Documents - PDFs, Word docs etc.
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • Javascript files

All users should automatically have access to the media library.

In order to add any media to a webpage, it must firstly be added to the media library.

In Site Structure view, navigate to the grey navigation bar at the top of the screen and click Content. Then select Media Library.

You should now be in the media library area. If you look in the panel down the left, you should be able to see a mini site-structure view. Please note that this is not the main site structure view - it is the structure of the media library which generally should follow the structure of the site.

Depending upon your level of access, you may see a several top-level folders - "Intranet", "Consortium" etc.

The one that we are interested in is the "University of Huddersfield" folder. Expand the folder by clicking on the "+" to view the sub-folders. Again, depending upon your level of access, you may see several sub-folders. The one that we are interested in is the "Content" folder. Click "+" to expand the folder.
