Social media APIs and bookmarking/ sharing tools

Social media bookmarking and sharing tools have been added to all webpages enabling users to share the content they like on the website. To share our content, the user needs to log in to their social media account (e.g. Facebook), although they will be prompted to do so when they click on any of the social media sharing icons.

This is a screenshot of the social media bookmarking tools available on every page of our website:

The Facebook "Like" button is built into the News item template, but can be added manually to any webpage using the Facebook like button template. If a user clicks "Like" and is logged in to their Facebook account, the content will be shared on their Facebook page directing their "Facebook friends" to our website.

In addition, the Facebook commenting functionality has been added to all news stories to allow for debate and engagement with the website visitor. There is an option for the user to post the content on their Facebook page.
