Flickr

Flickr is an online photo sharing management system. It has two main functions; it allows users to share photos with friends and contacts and helps users organise their photos by allowing friends and family to add notes, tags and comments. Flickr is for photosharing—so use your account to share photos, not as a selling tool. Here are a few simple tips to getting the most out of Flickr:
  • Share interesting and original photos and videos.
Upload fresh, authentic material rather than staged content. For example, sharing behind-the-scenes photos of events or student work will illustrate what the organisation is about and more importantly, that you’re interesting and human. The more unique, interesting content you share, the more interest you’ll receive in return.
  • Being open and trustworthy encourages people to interact with you. Here’s how to start on the right path:-
    • Add a buddy icon and fill out details on your profile so people know who you are and can find you on Flickr.
    • Set up a personalized URL to help identify you.
    • Add meaningful titles and descriptions (but no sales-talk) to your content.
    • Familiarize yourself with the Flickr Community Guidelines: http://www.flickr.com/help/guidelines/
    • Groups are a great way for members to share photos on a common theme. If you create a group, respect the rights of members by not making rules asking members to give up all rights to their content when adding them to the group.
