Commercial Work Services

The University has a range of resources which may be used for commercial purposes – from room hire to testing. Your School may already have a list of the rates that apply for the use of its resources.

Please note that RIKE is currently re-structuring and will provide dedicated development and support for Facilities and Equipment usage and Testing. This support, it is envisaged will cover the development of shared costing, pricing and contractual arrangements as well as training of academics / researchers / technical staff as required with appropriate business engagement and interaction skills to support development and delivery of these activities.

Undertaking research with and financially supported by external partners is core to our mission and strategy. The research can be of several types most notably Collaborative Research and Contract Research.

Collaborative Research is generally part funded by the external organisation e.g. a business and another public funding route e.g. Innovate UK. Whereas Contract Research would normally be fully funded by the external organisation. Different terms and conditions normally apply and are subject to pre-contractual negotiation, these normally focus on IP Ownership, publication / dissemination rights and approval processes, and future rights to use research outcomes in academic activities – teaching and research.
