Learning Bytes are monthly training sessions, held online in Teams usually for one hour during lunchtime and will cover a variety of topics in connection with Learning Technologies including Brightspace and Teams functionality, ideas and tips for effective teaching and learning using various online tools and so on. They are informal and everyone within the University is welcome to come along. You will normally see these sessions advertised via the School LTAs but you can see a list of past and current sessions on this link.
Brightspace Bytes is a self-paced module within Brightspace to teach staff the basics of Brightspace. All staff should be automatically enrolled onto it. The module consists of a number of units containing short videos on each aspect of Brightspace. There is a quiz at the end of each unit to check knowledge. The first 10 modules are seen as the core training, which should be done as part of your induction programme at the University. The remaining units are for you to dip into or refresh your knowledge as needed. Don't forget to revisit the module as it is kept up to date with new updates and functionality. Here is a link directly to the module but you should also be able to find it using the waffle icon in Brightspace.
DELTA is our Digitally Enhanced Learning, Teaching and Assessment module, which is intended to be a partner module to Brightspace Bytes. DELTA provides a grounding in the pedagogical aspects of using the University's digital platforms to support and enhance modules which are primarily delivered face-to-face. Access DELTA here; please contact Sue Folley if you are not enrolled.
The STLT also offer bespoke/targetted training and support for Academic Teams, in general aspects of teaching and learning such as assessment and feedback, as well as making best use of our learning technologies or can respond to specific development needs in your Team. If you have a particular requirement, please the team by email to discuss further.
