Catering Services

The Huddersfood Team provides the on-campus catering service for the university.  The catering offer includes nine outlets offering a diverse food and beverage offer, an extensive hospitality offer and vending machines across campus.

Catering outlets are open between 08:00 and 15:00. Find out more about the outlets opening hours below

Hospitality queries are responded to Monday – Friday between 07:00 and 15:00

Vending is accessible outside of core opening times in line with building opening times

The Management and Supervisory team can be contacted between 06:30 and 17:00 Monday - Friday

Hospitality

Our hospitality team offer an extensive range of food and beverage options for meetings and events on campus.  The hospitality service typically operates between 7:30am and 5pm Monday to Friday.  Weekend and Evening Catering can be arranged on request. If you wish to arrange an external event, please liaise with the Events Team at events@hud.ac.uk

Sustainable Food

• Our Sustainable food policy details our departmental commitments to the sustainable procurement, production and delivery of food.

Food Waste

• Unavoidable production and plate waste is collected by ReFood and processed through anaerobic digestion to produce energy and fertiliser whilst avoiding landfill.
• Coffee Grounds are segregated and used to fertilise the campus grounds

Packaging

• Our takeaway containers are made from compostable materials
• We have increased the amount of crockery available in our outlets to discourage the use of single use items where possible.
• In September 2022 we collaborated with the SU and the University Sustainability Team to implement a levy on single use coffee cups.  The use of disposable cups had reduced drastically due to the pandemic, with only 2% of hot beverage sales being served in a reusable cup (7% pre pandemic).  Since implementing the levy we have see an drastic increase in the use of reusable cups, with 29% of hot beverages now being served in reusable cups.  As well as the environmental benefits of reducing the number of single use plastic lined cups going to landfill we are also processing less waste and therefore reducing the cost associated with disposal or non-reusable cups.  The money raised through the levy is reinvested in other sustainability initiatives across the department.
