PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is a set of rules and guidelines designed to aid organisations that handle card payment information, keep that information safe and secure.
These guidelines are essential to protect against data breaches and credit card fraud:
Protect cardholder data and sensitive authentication data wherever it is processed, stored or transmitted.
It is designed to reduce payment card fraud using security controls that protects customers cardholder data.
It is a requirement that all staff who process payments via card should understand the principles of PCI DSS and adhere by processes that protect the University from fraud.
