Supervision Fundamentals (Part 2 School based) - For New Supervisors of Postgraduate Research Degrees - Arts & Humanities
Who is this course aimed at?
Academic Staff - Who wish to become supervisors of postgraduate degrees and have not acted in this capacity before, either at Huddersfield or elsewhere, must attend this course. Please note, participants must also attend part one of this training: Supervision Fundamentals For New Supervisors of Postgraduate Research Degrees (Centralised training).
What is this course about?
The programme is structured in two parts. Part one is centralised, during which you work through materials which will be sent to you in advance and a centralised live session delivered by the Graduate School via Teams.
This second part is School based, designed and run by colleagues own School to reflect the contexts of PGRs in their disciplinary areas.
The programme looks at regulations, processes, and procedures as well as the practicalities of managing supervision and supporting PGRs. The programme includes many opportunities for discussion amongst participants and for questions to the programme team. Staff are expected to attend both parts to receive confirmation of their eligibility to supervise.
