PGR Supervisor: School training session
Who is this course aimed at?
Academic StaffWhat is this course about?
This course is all about supporting you in your role as a PhD supervisor within the School of Computing and Engineering, helping you feel confident and connected from day one. We’ll explore the SCE research environment together, including who’s who, our research centres, and the workspaces and systems that support PGRs and supervisors. You’ll walk through the full PGR lifecycle, from recruitment and early planning through progression monitoring to thesis submission, with a shared understanding of expectations around literature reviews, ethics, and academic integrity. We’ll also spend time looking at the practical support available for both staff and students, such as scholarships, funding and conference support, and how to make best use of it. Finally, we’ll introduce the PGR data management system, so you know how everything fits together and where to go for help when you need it.Details of any pre-course/programme requirements
