What is this course about?


This course is for both new and existing staff. Kick off your students' journey with confidence and clarity. This interactive session is designed to equip you with the tools, strategies, and mindset needed to make a strong and successful Flying Start. Whether you're new to the University or would like a refresher for your Flying Start programme, we'll look at real-life examples, engage in collaborative discussions, and conduct practical activities. You'll gain insights into what makes a great start and how to sustain momentum for long-term success in your Flying Start programme.
The course has various dates bookable via MyHR, with both classroom sessions and MS Teams options available.

Objectives

Here is what you can expect by attending this course:
  • Participants will be able to define and explain the fundamental principles of "Flying Start" and its importance for students in transitioning to university and achieving early success
  • Participants will consider how to evaluate the effectiveness of their "Flying Start" approach to ensure continuous improvement
  • Participants will explore case studies and examples for adaptation and use in their programme's "Flying Start"
