Research Impact - Session 3) Gathering evidence of impact

What is this course about?

In this session we will focus on identifying and evidencing the impact of your research. Examples of high-scoring impact case studies from REF2021 will illustrate how different types and sources of data can be used to evidence real-world change and link it to the underpinning research. We’ll consider the importance of planning, identifying appropriate indicators and establishing a systematic approach to data collection, analysis and reporting that works for you, allowing you to effectively evaluate progress at each stage of your pathway to impact.

This session is a continuation on the work developed in session 2. The attendees will benefit from signing up and attending Sessions 1, 2, and 4 after this one.

Details of any pre-course/programme requirements
The attendees should bring along the Logic Model plan they have developed during Session 2, so they can continue developing it in this session. This session will be delivered twice - once in person and once online.

Objectives

Here is what you can expect by attending this course:
  • A knowledge of different types and sources of data that can be used to evidence research impact and evaluate the effectiveness of your pathway to impact.
  • Confidence to establish an impact evidence plan relevant to your own research and pathway to impact.
  • Examples of methods and systems that can be used to capture, analyse and report impact evidence.
