What is this course about?
An introduction on how to support students with mental health issues; we will look at four of the most common issues that we face in Wellbeing (anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicide). Participants will discuss several scenarios and decide what the best course of action is. It is recommended that the session is attended in a quiet and confidential space to allow you to engage fully and participate in discussions.
Details of any pre-course/programme requirements
You will need a piece of paper to participate in an activity in the session, A5 or larger is ok.
Please be aware that this session will contain some references to suicide, if you are impacted by the content of the session, you will be provided with points of support.
Objectives
Here is what you can expect by attending this course:
An awareness of anxiety, depression, self-harm, and suicide.
An understanding of the impact of capacity and consent regarding confidentiality.
The skills to maintain boundaries with students and manage self-care.
