What is this course about?
This session is aimed at student facing support staff to raise awareness of hate crime, including the hidden victims of hate crimes. It will explore the local context in Kirklees and why it is important to report any concerns and the reporting processes. Learning will be supported by case studies.
The training is delivered by Susan Maycock, Hate Crime and Victim Support Officer at Safer Kirklees.
Please only book your place below if you have received an invitation email from Student Services. Places may be opened up to other staff to attend the online session if capacity allows.
Objectives
Here is what you can expect by attending this course:
Apply knowledge gained from case studies to identify and support our students if they are affected by hate crime.
Recognise the importance of reporting hate crimes and the steps involved in the reporting process within the Kirklees area.
Understand the diverse impacts of hate crime on all individuals and communities, including those who may be less visible.
