Managing Challenging Conversations (Part 1)

What is this course about?

The first of two sessions that provide participants with the opportunity to reflect on approaches to challenging conversations and offer tools and strategies to help plan and deliver these conversations with greater confidence. Participants will gain a better understanding of the characteristics of a challenging conversation, how to minimise barriers in difficult dialogues and how to effectively manage emotions during these interactions. Additionally, they will be equipped to produce a detailed plan for feedback and use language effectively in these scenarios.

Pre-course work will be sent out in the week before the event.

Objectives

Here is what you can expect by attending this course:
  • Develop strategies to minimise the barriers that prevent resolution in challenging conversations.
  • Gain the ability to identify key characteristics of challenging conversations and plan accordingly.
  • Learn techniques to manage emotions during difficult conversations.
