Understanding Conflict

Who is this course aimed at?

All University Staff

What is this course about?

In all our areas of work we come face to face with conflict. This course helps us to define conflict, and to understand the different stages of conflict. This is a safe and confidential space in which to talk about conflict. We will discuss the common causes of conflict in the workplace and the impact it has on people and performance. We will analyse particular "real life" conflict situations, and then look at effective strategies for handing and resolving conflict. Please bring an example of conflict with you, sometimes we may touch on sensitive issues, but this is a safe place to be.

Details of any pre-course/programme requirements

Please bring with you an example of conflict that you have experienced. "Real life" examples really bring the situation to life, much more so, than a prepared example. Discussions about the examples you bring will be confidential.
