Academics who would like to build a media profile and share their research with a global public audience by writing for 'The Conversation'
What is this course about?
During this interactive session you will learn more about "The Conversation", the world's leading publisher of research-based news and analysis. The session (led by an editor from The Conversation) will explain their origins and aims, look at why you should communicate your research to the public and take you through The Conversation's unique, collaborative, editorial process.You'll get tips on style, tone and structure (with examples), look at how to pitch (with examples) and explore different approaches and article types. In the second part of the session, you will have the opportunity to discuss your research with an editor from "The Conversation", pitch potential story ideas and receive feedback.

To get the most out of your time you should come prepared by:- reading some articles on "The Conversation" to get a sense of what is published.
- thinking about the sort of pieces you might potentially write and what aspects of your research might interest people.
