Supervision Fundamentals for New Supervisors of Postgraduate Research Degrees (Part 2 School based) - Human and Health Sciences

The Target Audience:
Academic staff who wish to become supervisors of postgraduate degrees and have not previously acted in this capacity, either at Huddersfield or elsewhere, must attend this course. Those who have experience as a Main Supervisor at Huddersfield, or experienced supervisors new to Huddersfield, should complete the Supervision Update course once every three years.

Course Description:
The programme is structured in two parts. Part 1 is centralised, involving pre-sent materials and a live session delivered by the Graduate School via Teams. Part 2 is School-based, designed and run by colleagues within their own School to reflect the contexts of postgraduate researchers (PGRs) in their disciplinary areas.

The Programme looks at regulations, processes, and procedures as well as the practicalities of managing supervision and supporting PGRs. The programme includes many opportunities for discussion amongst participants and for questions to the programme team. Staff are expected to attend both parts to receive confirmation of their eligibility to supervise.
