What is this course about?

This session is part of the Research Funding series from RIKE and supports the development theme ‘your research practice’. The series will inform academic researchers about the various stages of the path to obtaining funding for their research and managing successful awards. Each session will focus on a different aspect of research funding and colleagues are welcome to book for a specific session, or the full series of five.

Session four focuses on formulating a realistic research budget. It includes an overview of cost versus price, the Full Economic Costing (fEC) model, internal tools and resources for costing, and the internal approval process.

Objectives

Here is what you can expect by attending this course:
  • Become familiar with internal tools, resources, and approval processes for research budgeting.
  • Learn how to apply the Full Economic Costing (fEC) model.
  • Understand the difference between cost and price in research budgeting.
