Supervision Fundamentals for New Supervisors of Postgraduate Research Degrees (Part 2 School based) - Business, Education & Law

Target Audience:
Academic staff who wish to become supervisors of postgraduate degrees and have not previously acted in this capacity, either at Huddersfield or elsewhere, must attend this course. Participants must also attend Part One: Supervision Fundamentals for New Supervisors of Postgraduate Research Degrees (Centralised Training).

Course Description:
This programme is structured in two parts. Part One is centralised, involving pre-sent materials and a live session delivered by the Graduate School via Teams. Part Two is School-based, designed and run by colleagues within their own School to reflect the contexts of postgraduate researchers (PGRs) in their disciplinary areas. The sessions cover regulations, processes, and procedures, as well as the practicalities of managing supervision and supporting PGRs. The programme includes many opportunities for discussion among participants and for questions to the programme team. Staff are expected to attend both parts to receive confirmation of their eligibility to supervise.
