University Research Careers and Engagement Oversight Group
Terms of Reference
The University Research Careers and Engagement Oversight Group (URCEOG) is responsible to the Research Committee (URC) and will promote and further develop a strategic approach to career development and skills training for researchers in the context of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. The University Research Careers and Engagement Oversight Group will meet on a quarterly basis to ensure progress in achieving the strategy and to oversee the activities of its Working Parties. The Group will report on progress to URC, annually.
- To monitor and review the implementation of institutional policy related to Researcher Development, including the Researcher Development Strategy 2016-2020 (Annex 1)
- To oversee the implementation of the HR Excellence in Research Action Plan and support the renewal of the HR Excellence in Research Award (every 4 years, with self-assessment in between)
- To receive reports and support the action plans created by Working Parties e.g. for Public Engagement with Research
- To monitor and review reports from Human Resources and Staff Development on matters related to Research Staff
- To make recommendations to URC and other related bodies on matters related to researcher careers and engaging the public with research
- To take responsibility for the communication and dissemination of activities to relevant departments and stakeholders
Reporting
Recommendations from the Concordat Steering Group will be forwarded to the University’s Senior Management Team for Evaluation.
