Accreditation of Prior Experiential and Certificated Learning (Part 1)

Participants need to evidence both Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) and Accreditation of Certificated Learning (APCL) for a minimum of 60 and maximum of 105 credits.  APEL refers to your previous responsibilities and experience, whilst APCL refers to any academic or professional qualifications you have achieved that can be credited against this MSc. Only participants with substantial prior experience in a senior leadership roles are likely to qualify for the higher number of credits. For example, if you have gained the CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Leadership, and achieved Chartered Manager status, you have already gained credits (APCL) towards this MSc.

  • It is expected that most participants will need to complete carefully selected modules that act as a pathway onto the MSc, covering the additional credits needed. These include Two Online modules, and a CMI-accredited Personal and Professional Development module. These modules are worth 30 credits towards the MSc.

Please note, all participants APEL and APCL will be assessed on an individual basis and therefore determine which pathway your MSc will take. More details can be found below.

After learning about consultancy skills (through the responsible consultant - module 1), participants have the opportunity to put their learning into practice though a work-based consultancy project (module 2) that tackles a specific University, School, or Service need.

These modules are worth a further 75 credits, and along with your 105 credits for APEL and APCL, this gives you the 180 credits needed for the full MSc qualification.
