Indefinite Leave to Remain

Indefinite leave to remain is how you settle in the UK.  It is also called 'settlement' and gives you the right to live, work and study in the UK for as long as you like.  You can also use it to apply for British Citizenship.

There are different ways to apply for indefinite leave to remain in the UK, based on your current circumstances and you can find out more on the Gov.uk website.

You may require a confirmation of employment letter as part of your visa application.  Please submit a request, no more than 28 days before you are due to submit your application, to Michelle Lovett, UKVI Compliance Officer, email: m.lovett@hud.ac.uk. 

Become a British Citizen

There are different ways to apply for British Citizenship (or naturalisation) based on your circumstances and you can find out more on the Gov.uk website.

A Schengen visa is a short-stay visa that allows a person to travel to any member of the Schengen Area for up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes.  There are 27 countries known as 'Schengen States' and you will need to check the entry requirements and rules of the country you are visiting to find out if you need a visa or work permit.  Please see the Gov.uk website for more information. 

If you are required to travel to the Schengen Area for business reasons, and require a letter confirming your employment, please contact your HR Advisor.
