2026 Conference
RISE to the Challenge: Inspiring Innovation
Wednesday 24 June 2026, Oastler Building
The Teaching and Learning Conference 2026 is your place to share the ways that you identify, explore and encourage innovative teaching and learning within your practice.
This broad theme may include Gen AI, assessment, technology enhanced learning, partnership, delivery, efficiencies, support, engagement, and retention.

Call for Workshops
We invite University staff and students to contribute one or more of the following:
- a 5-minute mini presentation/show and tell sharing a teaching tip or idea
- a 15-minute presentation
- a 45-minute workshop
All the above must fit the theme of innovative teaching but also aligns with at least one other of our new strategy values of:
- Respect
- Innovation (key theme – all session must align with this one!)
- Support
- Excellence
Priority will be given to sessions which share ideas that colleagues can take away and implement in their own practice.
We particularly encourage sessions that involve the student voice in some way – examples include where some elements of teaching and learning have been co-collaborated with students, involve student agency or input. We also welcome creative sessions where the participants create a learning activity or artifact as part of the workshop.
This year we are going to run with fewer sessions based on a small number of tracks, so not all sessions submitted will be selected. All workshops must involve interactive activities.
The conference will include an introduction from Professor John Murray setting scene for the day. There will also be keynotes from invited speakers.
Please submit a proposal of up to 300 words stating whether you intend to offer a tip, presentation or workshop. You can include citations, or not, as you feel appropriate but do include them in the word count.
Please submit your proposal using this online form.
The deadline for submissions is 5pm, Friday 27 February 2026
