This workshop will help teaching staff to recognise the importance of creating accessible digital content by exploring the main challenges students with disabilities and specific learning differences face when accessing such content online and in the learning environment. Staff will experience the challenges faced through disability simulators.
The workshop will also present an opportunity to develop an understanding of the types of assistive technology used by students and to discuss both the advantages and limitations of these technologies. Staff will experience how AT works.
Furthermore, examples of good practice will help to highlight what adjustments should be made when creating digital content to ensure that it is accessible and strategies which can be implemented to evaluate the accessibility and usability of digital content, will be explored.
