Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
A message from our Vice Chancellor
"From our origins in 1841, our simple philosophy has been to provide educational opportunities to the widest cross-section of society. In those early days, both young men and women were welcomed and thus we could claim to have one of the longest-established diversity agendas in the sector.
As society has changed, our conception of diversity has broadened enormously. However, we are – as we always have been – deeply committed to providing equality of opportunity to all sectors of society.
The University of Huddersfield is deeply committed to equality and diversity for its students and its researchers and, of course, its staff. We have embraced a number of initiatives to further this that we are committed to such as the Athena SWAN Charter, the Stonewall Global Diversity Champions programme and Disability Confident.
We constantly strive to maintain a culture of diversity and inclusiveness, which is in our heritage, and we will be ever vigilant in pursuit of new ways to advance this agenda as we move forward." - Professor Bob Cryan (Vice Chancellor)
