Support for Individuals

  • Referral to Occupational Health: If you feel comfortable doing so, you should talk to your line manager in the first instance who may decide to refer you to Occupational Health. Alternatively, you are welcome to contact the Occupational Health Department to arrange a one to one consultation with one of the Occupational Health nursing advisers on a self-referral basis.
  • Staff Counselling and Mental Health Support: Through Staff Wellbeing Confidential Support, you can access 24/7 confidential telephone counselling (03303 800658) from qualified and caring professionals. Staff can also access a self-help workbook on Stress.
  • Dignity at Work: There are occasions when you may find that a consultation with one of the university Dignity at Work advisers would be of benefit to you. Dignity at Work Policy and information
  • Education Support Partnership: The Education Support Partnership provides mental health and wellbeing support services to all education staff and organisations. They can provide telephone support and counselling.
  • Stress Risk Assessment: You can complete a Stress risk assessment form with your manager, which can help identify some of the causes of stress in the workplace and possible control measures. You can consult the Stress risk assessment Guidance notesto help you.
  • Wellness Action Plan: Mind have developed a Wellness Action Plan that you can complete and discuss with your manager. This provides an easy, practical way of helping you support your own mental health at work. You can find further guidance here.

Support for Line Managers

  • Occupational Health Advice: If you are currently concerned about an aspect of stress as related to the team which you manage please do not hesitate to contact Occupational Health for advice.
  • Staff Counselling and Mental Health Support: Staff Wellbeing Confidential Support - 24 hour confidential telephone line which you can contact yourself for support and guidance about how to best to support a team member who is experiencing stress (03303 800658).
